58. list of sins

On the Day of Atonement, church leaders would read out a list of 82 sins that we were supposed to repent for. Following are a few of the “sins” on the list:

Sin of insisting on my rights as if I were a righteous person, though I, as a sinner, have no rights to assert.

Sin of resting and sleeping as desired, though I am only a sinner.

Sin of wanting to enjoy freedom, though a sinner has no freedom to enjoy.

Sin of feeling upset when unpleasant things were said to this sinner.

Sin of feeling distressed for not being provided with good food.

Sin of feeling distressed when I felt I didn’t have good housing and comfortable rest place.

Sin of not being joyful always.

It was considered a sin to be a human being with basic rights, needs, and freedoms. Everything was a sin, and we were to live like guilty prisoners, even after being “freed” by Christ.
